Automatic negative self-talk will create an atmosphere of destruction and fear. With negative self talk, the thought "I'm not good enough" then becomes a feeling of worthlessness. These components then show up as a behavior of not trying because of the fear of failing. I know the realities of fear shutting down every possibility imaginable. Once you're in the circle of "I'm not good enough" it becomes a never ending cycle increasing in diameter, by the number of negative thoughts.

Living in a space where all hope seems gone is one of the worst positions to be in. Not being able to feel the passion for simple things is extremely painful. At times it can feel like an outer body experience, as if you are on the outside looking at yourself suffer. Even though painful experiences happen and take a toll on us, that is not where our stories end. God has not given us a spirit of fear; but of power, love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Continue to push forward, thrusting into your greatness. Do not let distractions keep you bound and confused. The reason distractions exist is because they serve as decoys to trap and deceive people. We all have a purpose on this earth. The type of seeds we sow, we will ultimately reap (e.g. if you spread negativity, you will get negativity in return, if you spread love, joy, and peace it will return unto you). When your focus is solely on the Lord and the plan he has for your life, you can begin to see clearly. So many of us have blinders on and we cannot see anything but our problems, and it makes things seem like they'll never get better but that's a lie! Speak life into yourself, be encouraged and stand boldly in all the greatness that lies within you! Remember:
BE BOLD, BE BRAVE, BE UNIQUELY YOU! A question that is often hard for a lot of people to honestly answer. When was the last time you conducted a self-evaluation, and really asked yourself "Who Am I?" Being able identify with our own self is a vital part of acknowledging our destiny. See, if we are not sure of the skills and characteristics which come to make us, US then our lives tend to be lived out in unfulfilling ways.
Just recently, I was challenged to ask myself this very question of "Who am I?" At first, I jokingly said I'm uniquely me, but I could not confidently mention the gems which make me who I am. So for the last few weeks, I've been seeking God to show me who does he say that I am. Ultimately we are creations of our father in heaven so it is only right to go back to the source and ask the question. I am worthy, I am boldly dipped in greatness and shimmering in love/kindness. My resilience through adversities continues to show me no matter the obstacle, I will fight for righteousness and seek positive over negative with all my might. You too can be confident in knowing who you are! Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you (NIV Matthew 7:7) It is very easy to become anxious and frustrated when things seem to continuously be going wrong. Luckily, there is a solution to cope with the frantic moments. The answer is simple, make a conscientious decision to be happy. The truth of the matter is life will always continue to throw us curve balls but it is up to us to decide whether we give our situations the power over our lives. We must hope for the best but prepare for the worst, so when those tough times do occur, we do not start operating in overload mode. Problems do not go away, but taking a stand and making sure a positive mentality succumbs any worry/anxiety, is the best way to go.
Trust me, I have been through my shares of worrying about how certain things would work out. (For example, when I was a sophomore at Georgia State University and I lost my Hope Scholarship, I thought the journey of furthering my education was over). Where there is a will, there is a way! I remained focused on doing all that I could to get the situation fixed, I enrolled in a program to help me regain the Hope Scholarship back, and kept it until I graduated in 2013. It was real easy for me to feel depressed and want to throw the towel in, but I had made it too far to quit. God is GOOD! He continues to guide us along this rollercoaster ride called "life". As long as we are making a consistent effort to do better as well as make a influential impact in this world, he will fill in the gap. Remember: You may not always have all that you want, but you have all that you NEED. Choose to be Happy, because choosing to be sad does not get you anywhere but wallowing in self-pity. "Everyday may not be perfect but it has purpose"- Author Unknown It can seem like a cliche but "live, laugh, love" is a principle that we should incorporate in our daily routines. I think about the many times when I put work or school ahead of making time for myself, getting things done were more important to me. Well that is until my sanity started to decline, my stress levels began to jump out the roof. I quickly changed my point of view and learned that Melissa was important not the work, because if I get sick things still go on whether I can fulfill my duties or not.
Laughing is one of the most healthiest and easiest stress relievers we can ever experience. A good joke or even a pleasant/funny thought can turn a horrible day into a more manageable one. Lastly, a heart filled with love and not malice sets the tone for a positive environment & not a negative one. We get what we put out into the atmosphere, so make sure to live life to the fullest and make every single moment count! It used to bother me as a child how people could be so mean and full of hate. Even in now in my adult age I cannot understand why some people think they can mistreat someone, and then in the same breathe expect for the person not only to reciprocate the kindness, to be okay with it. "Treat others as you would like to be treated" is an old saying which seems to be ancient in today's society. We have become so individualistic, all about "Me, Myself & I" not realizing that as humans we thrive off one another. Random acts of kindness can actually make our day even better. So the next time you have an opportunity do something kind for another person (i.e. hold the door open, pay it forward, SMILE, etc). Remember life is all about what WE make it.
I am not really a morning person, some times getting up to go to work is a struggle but then I remember that it is a blessing to even be able to "wake up". While laying in the bed some mornings, I quickly analyze how my day 'could' go, either good or bad, because ultimately I have the power over whether I will have a phenomenal day or a crappy one. Speaking positive things into the atmosphere is very important, seeing how our mouths have the capability to uplift or tear down. WE cannot expect to continuously speak negatively about ourselves or a situation and then expect something great to come out of it. Instead we must push through, continue to persevere, and believe that things will work out. For a lot of people this is easier said than done but if you have never tried thinking on the bright side then maybe you should start today. Each day will have problems of its own, it may not go as we planned but remember things could be worse, so try to keep yourself focused on the things you would like to accomplish in life. Trouble doesn't last always! :)
The greatest things in life come from the risks we are willing to take, the opportunities that cross our paths, and the difference we make in each others lives. Our journey's play an important part in how we maneuver through the crazy maze of life. Some days are not always sunny and filled with smiles, some days are intensely filled with stress and uncertainty. It is at those very moments of struggling and trying to figure out how to go about fixing things, we begin to find ourselves.
Every day is a new day, a fresh start toward a new beginning. Are you ready to face your fears, change the things you are able to change, and let go of the things our of your control? Remember: You are never alone on this journey no matter how you might feel, reach out and ask for help because we all need one another to survive! |
